Callahan, Thomas

Thomas Callahan

Tom has been with MAHA since 1987 and its executive director since 1991. MAHA's signature achievement has been the negotiation, creation, and expansion of the ONE Mortgage program (formerly SoftSecond loan program) which resulted from the 1989 Federal Reserve Bank of Boston study on racial disparities in mortgage lending. Tom serves on the boards of the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (Fair Plan), Massachusetts Community and Banking Council (MCBC), Community Labor United, and is a member of the Milton Fair Housing Committee and Milton Affordable Housing Trust Fund. He also is a member of the steering committee of the Community Preservation Coalition. He was recently named as a consumer representative to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Tom was a member of the Board of Trustees for The Appraisal Foundation from 2010-2015 where he chaired its Consumer Affairs Task Force and was a member of Appraisal Subcommittee Advisory Committee for Development of Regulations as a result of the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation.

Tom is a native of North Adams, MA and a 1982 graduate of Fairfield University. He was a Fannie Mae Fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government program in 1998 and a participant in the Jewish Community Relations Council's Boston Haifa Learning Exchange in 2014. He previously served as coalition coordinator at Tenants United for Public Housing Progress and community organizer at Massachusetts Fair Share.

Burden-Cook, Regina

Regina Burden-Cook

Regina has been with MAHA since 1994. Previously, she worked for 14 years in the banking field at Shawmut Bank as a supervisor in the bookkeeping department. Regina is also a faithful member at the Zion Temple Holy Church in Dorchester in which she serves on the financial board. She is a native of North Carolina.

Casas, Jorge

Jorge Casas

Jorge has been with MAHA since 2001. He brings to MAHA nearly 30 years of experience in the housing field, mainly in the construction management area. Jorge previously worked at the Boston Materials Resource Center and Urban Edge. He is the in-house presenter for our property management and maintenance workshops. Jorge is bilingual in English and Spanish and grew up in Mexico.

Crockett, Michelle

Michelle joined MAHA in 2007 after working in customer service positions in the health care and consumer finance fields for the last 20 years. Michelle is originally from Alabama and is a graduate of MAHA's homebuyer education class and a SoftSecond homeowner. She is an active member of Bethel AME Church in Boston.

Fernandez, Hilda

Hilda has been with MAHA since 2002. Her background includes several years of customer service experience, and over seven years of banking and lending experience at USTrust. Hilda is a Dorchester native with strong family roots in Honduras and Cuba. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Pizer, Hillary

Hillary Pizer

Hillary has been with MAHA since 1987. She previously worked at Clean Water Action and Massachusetts Fair Share on environmental issues. At MAHA, Hillary is the lead organizer for the grassroots Homebuyers Union and has staffed campaigns that have led to more than $2.3 billion in mortgage lending to lower income households in Massachusetts. She is a 1986 graduate of Harvard University and grew up in Lincoln.

Rice, Barbara

Barbara Rice

Barbara has been with MAHA since 2004. She previously worked for 22 years with the Hotel Workers Union and the Hotel Workers Education Program. Currently, Barbara is an organizer for the grassroots Homebuyers Union. Previously of East Boston, she is a proud Soft Second homeowner and has lived in Roslindale since 1991.

Stallworth, Percy

Percy Stallworth

Percy joined MAHA's staff in 2014 but has worked with MAHA and other community organizations in a variety of capacities over the last twenty-five years. He previously was an organizer with Local 26 Hotel Workers Union, an affordable mortgage loan officer for The Boston Company and Citizens Bank, and a foreclosure prevention counselor for ESAC. Percy lives in Malden and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama.

Vann, Cortina

Cortina Vann

Cortina has been with MAHA since 1999. She previously worked at Fleet Bank underwriting small business loans. Cortina has over 11 years working for financial service organizations. She is an organizer for the grassroots Homebuyers Union and has staffed campaigns that have led to an increase in the city of Boston's linkage fee and establishment of an inclusionary development policy. She is a graduate of George Washington University - Mount Vernon Campus in Washington D.C. and a native of Roxbury.
